New York Life Foundation (NYLF) and Afterschool Alliance
Overview: The purpose of this program is to support and bolster the ability of nonprofit after-school and summer learning programs to help prepare middle school students for success in high school, college, and life. For the purpose of this program, middle school youth are defined as students in grades six, seven, and eight. Supported projects must serve a high percentage, at least 75 percent, of low-income youth, who are defined as students who qualify for the Federal Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Program (FRPL).
Awards will be provided in the following categories for enhancing direct service activities, technical assistance, and/or capacity building:
- One-year awards: funding is intended to help out-of-school-time (OST) providers improve the supports provided to youth related to social justice, racial equity, and well-being efforts
- Two-year awards: funding is intended to enhance OST providers’ direct service activities, technical assistance, capacity building, program expansion, and efforts to continue serving youth while facing the challenges of the pandemic and beyond
Programs offering in-person, virtual, or hybrid programming are eligible to apply. For the purposes of this program, OST programs include expanded learning programs, after-school programs that operate on a regular and consistent basis after the regular school day ends during the school year, and summer learning programs.
